Truth For Today Bible Study Course

At-a-glance …

Adam gave the earth to Satan.

God promised a way back.

A Saviour would come who would be hurt by Satan

Satan will be brought to ashes by the work of the Saviour.

The prison door is now open

We can be set free if we so choose.

Q15 What shows that Satan was fully aware that he had taken the rights to the dominion of this world when Adam submitted to him?

And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.  Luke 4:6

NOTE:  At the time when he took the fruit and ate of it, Adam had in fact, given away his position as the ruler of this world.  Adam was now a slave of Satan the old serpent, the new ruler. All was lost.  If Jesus had not intervened there could have been no way out for the human race, and we are still as powerless today without Jesus Christ to throw the yoke of Satan  from us, to be restored to our true position. We are still living in the kingdom of darkness, but the enmity that God has placed in our hearts gives us the sense of longing for something better so that we are able to make a choice a look to Jesus.

Q16 What did the coming of Jesus to earth mean for the human race who had been made captive to Satan?

The spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;  Isaiah 61:1,2.

Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin … If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.  John 8:34,36

SUMMARY BOX

When sin came into God’s perfect world all was spoiled. Seeminly there was no way out from sin and guilt and fear. God made the promise that a Redeemer would come who would bear the penalty Himself, to break the bondage of Satan on the human race,. Satan tried to thwart the plan, but Jesus was victorious. Our prison gates are open.

Verse: For this purpose the Son of God was manifested that He might destroy the works of the devil. 1 John 3:8
