moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 1 Corinthians 15:51-54
NOTE: ‘If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come. Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee.’ Job 14:14,15 Job is thought to be one of the first books of the Bible to be written, yet the same thought of living again and a change to come is found there in the Old Testament, just as in the New Testament. Isaiah also spoke of this same resurrection. ‘Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.’ Isaiah 26:19
Q19 How does God know who will receive the reward of eternal life?
And the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works … They were judged every man according to their works. Revelation 20:12,13
NOTE: This verse shows that the judgement takes place before the Second Coming of Jesus in glory with all His holy angels. The judgement has been made according to our character from what is shown in the books of heaven. There is no second chance. ‘He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.’ Revelation 22:11. We cannot make a change to our lives then, it will be too late. Now is our time of opportunity. Now is the time to choose for God so that evil can be ended in our lives. God’s decision is not made by weighing good and bad deeds to see which is the greater. His decision is made according to seeing the record that we have overcome evil to become pure, holy and clean. He will make a new word and He needs safe people as its inhabitants, not those who are mostly good but have some sin still left in their lives.
Yes, we do face judgement after our death, but at a judgement day appointed by God when He judges all the inhabitants of the world.
Q20 Can we know when exactly the judgement takes place?
And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed. Daniel 8:14
NOTE: These are the key words taken from an important prophetic vision given to Daniel. They point to the time when the judgement will take place. The next module will look at this in detail.
