Truth For Today Bible Study Course

At-a-glance …

Evil is time limited.

We live, we die, we wait.

We sleep in the earth along with all others before.

At the close of the gospel there is one judgement of all.

The books are opened.

Lives are judged.

Jesus will return in glory.

He brings His rewards with Him.

DO WE FACE JUDGEMENT AFTER DEATH?

Judgement—Because this is a Bible study, the word judgement is being used in the Bible sense.  In a Bible judgement two parties were involved both claiming to be telling the truth.  The judgement process was to examine the evidence, make a verdict, declare the sentence and carry it out. In the Bible the grand judgement is between God and Satan.   The judgement  that we face personally will decide whether we have been a witness for God or for Satan. Here is the final pronouncement made in that judgement ‘He that is righteous let Him be righteous still, He that is holy let Him be holy still.’  He that is unjust let Him be unjust still, He that is filthy let Him be filthy still.’

Tell—to count up

Soul—person, a living human being.

Righteousness—doing the right thing.  A righteous person obeys God.

Members—body parts: head, arms, legs and our body organs.

Q1 What clue does the Bible give that there is a time limit to the history of good and evil?

Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.  Revelation 12:9

Q2 When are we judged?

And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.  Hebrews 9:27

Q3 What are we judged out of?

And the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.  Revelation 20:12

Q4 Does the Bible speak of these books anywhere else?

A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.  Daniel 7:10

And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened. Revelation 20:12

Q5 Which other book is referred to in the Bible?

Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.  And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels. Malachi 3:16,17

NOTE:  The books are opened so that the judgement of all, the accused and the accusers is transparent for all to see.  All the evidence is open.
