Q10 How long is an average human lifespan?
The days of our years are threescore years and ten; [70] and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years [80], yet is their strength labour and sorrow. Psalm 90:10.
NOTE: Our lives average are about 70 years. If we live beyond 80 then physical problems come that are difficult to cope with and fill us with sorrow. King David in the Bible, knew this in his own old age.
Q11 What happens to us at the end of our life span?
But I would not have you to be ignorant brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hop hope...For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ shall rise first. 1 Thessalonians 4:13.
So man lieth down and riseth not, till the heavens be no more. Job 14:12 (Compare 2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord shall come as a thief in the night in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise and the elements shall melt with fervent heat.)
NOTE: We sleep in death. We all both good and bad, ‘rest in peace’ until the resurrection.
Q12 What did God Himself tell Moses would be His state when he died?
And the Lord said unto Moses, Behold thou shalt sleep with thy fathers. Deuteronomy 31:16.
Q13 What did Jesus say about the death of Lazarus?
Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go that I may awake Him out of sleep, then said His disciples Lord. If he sleep, he shall do well. Howbeit Jesus spake of his death, but they thought that He had spoken of taking rest in sleep. Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead. John 11:11-14
Q14 What is it like when we are dead?
His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.
Psalm 146:4
Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do do it with all thy might for there is no device, nor knowledge not wisdom in the grave whither thou goest. Ecclesiastes 9:10
For the grave cannot praise thee, death cannot celebrate thee, they that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth. The living, the living He shall praise thee. Isaiah 38:18,19.
The dead praise not the Lord, nor any that go down into silence. Psalm 115:17
For the living know that they shall die but the dead know not anything, neither have they any more reward … Also their love hatred and their envy is now perished, neither have they any more a portion of anything that is done under the sun. Ecclesiastes 9:5,6
In death there is no remembrance of thee. In the grave who shall give thee thanks. Psalm 6:5
NOTE: World religions say many things that are different from God’s Word. Many teach that there is no death and we just move to a different place to go on living, out of sight but still alive. It could be in heaven or hell, purgatory or paradise. |
