Q8 Who does the Bible tell us Jesus is?
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Matthew 1:21-23
Q9 In the Messianic prophecy of Isaiah, how did he describe Him?
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6
NOTE: This verse is declaring that Jesus, the child born into our world to save us from our sins, is the same being as Jehovah, God the Father, the everlasting God. Jesus did say, I and my father are one. Either He was telling the Truth or He was the greatest fraud of all ages and millions have been deceived.
Q10 If Jesus is the same as the Father and is truly God from everlasting to everlasting why did He have to be told by the Father what to say and do?
I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him. Deuteronomy 18:18,19
NOTE: This was a prophecy to show that people living in Old Testament times were to expect One to come who would speak the words of God to them, as Moses had done in his lifetime. The definition of a prophet is one who speaks for God. One who forth-tells. This is not always foretelling the future, but more often speaking for God, to turn people from their sins. Jesus was the centre of the promised victory over evil and his message was Repent, Go and sin no more.
Q11 When John was baptising in the River Jordan what question did they ask Him?
And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptisest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet? John 1:25
NOTE: They knew of ‘That Prophet’ who was to come.
Q12 How did Jesus try to tell them that He was that long promised prophet that they were to expect? And also to help them understand that He was God, the Messiah they were expecting?
Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up [crucified] the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am He, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my father hath taught me, I speak these things … As He spake these words many believed on Him. Then said Jesus to those Jews that believed on Him , If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed, and ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.
