Q17 What are the encouraging words of Jesus?
But be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. John 16:33
Q18 What warning does God give about sliding back and falling under Satan’s evil once again?
For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. 2 Peter 2:20,21.
Q19 What admonition are we given?
And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Romans 13:11,12.
I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil. Romans 16:9
NOTE: Sometimes we know a great deal about the activities of Satan from the reports we constantly see and hear in the media. But do we know our Bible so well? God’s advice is for us to reverse this situation. Though it is necessary that we watch religio-political developments in a basic way, we are to turn immediately to the Word of God. As we compare one scripture with another, we will be enabled to prove all things, and to be wise to our duty for God.
Once we have been alerted by the signs that God has given us to look for, and we have been awakened to Satan’s ploys, we have a duty. By explaining to others what we know and are sure of, the reality of God’s Word is anchored in our mind. In this way our courage and our understanding is strengthened so that we are able to ‘withstand’, and ‘having done all to stand’. Ephesians 6:13.
