Q27 What does the Bible tell us that Abraham and the others looked forward to as well as a city?
For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. Hebrews 11:14
But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God. Hebrews 11:16
Q28 Did God make any promises about a country?
But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. Psalm 37:11
For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth. Psalm 37:9
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Matthew 5:5
NOTE: It will not just be a country but the whole earth. The Bible name for is ‘the kingdom of God’. ‘Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven’. Matt 5:10. ‘And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.’ Daniel 7:14. By His death on the cross as the sacrificial Lamb, and His High Priestly ministry in the sanctuary in heaven, Jesus has taken human beings out of the kingdom of darkness and translated them into the kingdom of light. He has worked for the kingdom and when the new world is made with all its delights and new freshness, He will give it to those who have served Him.
Q29 Where did John see the New Jerusalem coming down from?
And I John, saw the holy city, new Jerusalem coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. Revelation 21:2
And He carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, having the glory of God. Revelation 21:10,11.
Q30 Who dwells in this city?
The throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him. And they shall see His face. Revelation 22:3,4.
Q31 Where does the city come down to?
Nevertheless we according to His promise look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. Behold the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people and they shall be His people. And God Himself shall be with them, and be their God. Revelation 21:3

NOTE: God will move from heaven to be with those made originally in the image of God The city will be the capital of God’s creation, and those here who have been faithful to Him in spite of all the temptations of evil will be His servants forever. The Bible gives us only one or two phrases and sentences about time, but if we ourselves are faithful, we shall discover the amazing reality of God’s love for redeemed sinners and His creative power in the new things which He will make for His pleasure and our enjoyment.
