chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald; The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolyte; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst. Revelation 21:18-20
Q13 How many gates are there into the new Heavenly Jerusalem?
And the twelve gates were twelve pearls: every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass. Revelation 21:21
Q14 Who will have the right to go through those gates into the city?
Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may ... enter in through the gates into the city. Revelation 22:14
Q15 How do we know there will be no sin in that city?
And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. Revelation 21:22
NOTE: In the Bible the temple or the sanctuary was the place where the priest carried out that which was necessary for the forgiveness and removal of sin. The sacrifices were made at the temple to show that an innocent creature was to die for the sin of the guilty. In the heavenly sanctuary Jesus presents His own blood by which our sins are forgiven and removed. Now the Apostle John saw no temple for sin is finished forever. The only perpetual reminder is that Jesus the Lamb of God is there. He ascended to heaven in human form still with the marks of the crucifixion on Him. This will remind us forever that we can enjoy the inheritance of God only because Jesus made it possible for us, and He shares our joy there.
Q16 What else is John shown about the city?
And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. Revelation 21:23
Q17 What did John see flowing out from the throne of God?
And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. Revelation 22:1
Q18 Which special tree was to be seen growing by the river of life?
In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. Revelation 22:2
NOTE: This is a very special tree for it seems to have two trunks and yet the tree meets over the middle like an arch way. Every month it has a different kind of fruit, and even the leaves can be eaten to be of care and service to those who pluck and eat them.
Q19 Where had this special tree been found originally?
And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Genesis 2:8,9
