Q14 When we are caught out in our sins, we feel something but it does not lead to any change of life. How does the Bible describe it?
The sorrow of the world worketh death. 2 Corinthians 7:10
Q15 What is the next step we must take when our sins have been shown to us?
I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD. Psalm 32:5
NOTE: We do not need to confess our sins to God through another person or priest. Jesus is our only Mediator with God. ‘For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; who gave himself a ransom for all.’ 2 Timothy 2:5,6.
Q16 If we have hurt someone by our sin what must we do?
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, James 5:16
Q17 What further responsibility must be ours in regards to our sins?
Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. Isaiah 55:7
Q18 When we have taken all these steps with a true and open heart, what is the next action that God asks of us?
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptised into Jesus Christ were baptised into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. Romans 1:1-6
