NOTE: These two signs occurred on May19th, 1780. Here is a description of that time. In some places persons could not see to read common print in the open air for several hours together. Birds sang their evening song, disappeared, and became silent; fowls went to roost; cattle sought the barnyard; and candles were lighted in the houses. The darkening began about 10.00 o’clock in the morning and lasted until the middle of the next night. The true causes of this remarkable phenomenon are not known. ‘The Dark Day’, Websters Unabridged Dictionary, 1833.
The same night as the darkness began to lift the moon became red like blood. Herscel the astronomer said, ‘The darkness was not caused by any eclipse of the sun by the moon for the moon was full only the night before and consequently was on the opposite side of the earth from the sun.’
The stars shall fall from heaven. Matthew 24:30
