Q1 How did the Apostle John refer to Jesus?
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John 1:12-14
Q2 But then John said something that seems hard to understand. What was it?
Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. John 6:54-57
NOTE: Here John was using a graphic symbol to explain how important it is to make the words of God part of our life. He described it as eating and drinking.
Q3 What did Jesus say about His proclamations?
The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. John 6:63
NOTE: What you eat and drink goes into the very fibre of your being—and it is what you eat or drink that gives you life. The verses given show the Jesus is saying if you take His words into your life, you will find real life.
Q4 How does Jesus speak about the life that He gives?
I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10:10
They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures. For with thee is the fountain of life: Psalm 36:8,9. |
