THE JUDGEMENT IN PROPHECY

Judgement— this word is based on the judgements of Bible times, with two parties in conflict, coming before a judge for a decision.  The judgement is to decide which party is telling the truth.

Prophecy—human beings declare what has been shown to them by God

Diverse—different

Quick—alive

Just—accurate, right, fair

Made manifest—brought to light, revealed and open

Q1 Where was Daniel the prophet when God gave him a second vision (for his first vision see Module 14) of the progression of world powers?

In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed: then he wrote the dream, and told the sum of the matters.  Daniel 7:1

Q2 What did he see at first?

I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea.  Daniel  7:2

NOTE:  There was a great storm with winds swirling from all sides.  The Great Sea was a name given to the Mediterranean Sea.  Winds in prophecy stand for strife, war and commotion.  Jeremiah 49:36. In Daniel,  kingdoms rise and fall with war and strife.  Waters in prophecy denote peoples and nations. Revelation 17:15.

Q3 What did Daniel see next?

And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another.  Daniel 7:3

NOTE: The vision of these four beasts is parallel to the metals in the image in Daniel 2. They represent the same four kingdoms. Therefore they also stand for Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, and Rome. The Bible uses a principle for teaching prophecy known as, Repetition and Expansion.
