NOTE: Alexander the Great was the foremost conquering Greek general represented by the great horn. At the peak of his exploits he died following a drinking orgy. Greece was then divided under four generals, Cassander, Lysimachus, Ptolemy and Seleucus Nicator, just as Daniel had seen in his vision.
Q10 At the end of the period of Greek supremacy what new power did Daniel see appearing?

NOTE: A horn in prophetic writings stands for a king or a kingdom.

NOTE: Imperial Rome and its emperors has now taken the place of Greece as ruling world power. This exactly parallels the previous visions.

NOTE: Here a change of emphasis is noted. This power now becomes involved with spiritual things, casting truth to the ground and thinking to supplant Jesus Christ who is the truth and also the leader of the angels in heaven. In AD 538 Rome became a spiritual, ecclesiastical power as well as having civil interests. The prophecies of Daniel are cumulative and expanding. A greater breadth of information is given with each repetition. In Daniel 7 this same power took away the law of God. Here this power is attacking the gospel itself.
