At-a-glance …

Our world is evil

The influences of 4 powers are at work

~The pride of Babylon
~The unchanging laws of the Medes and Persians
~The philosophy of Greece
~The combination of church and state that is modern Rome.

These lead to the problems in our world today.

All will be destroyed by God.

Q7 The next kingdom was Rome, both imperial with the Caesars, to be followed Papal with the Pontiffs.  In the prophecy which metal represents The Roman Empire and the Holy Roman Empire?

And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise.  Daniel 2:40

NOTE:  This is a kingdom that rules by force and control.  The desire is to subdue all things—a vision of world supremacy with no dissent.  Those who put up resistance are bruised and broken in pieces.  Rev 13 gives a parallel picture, ‘And they worshipped the beast, saying who is like unto the beast, who is able to make war with Him.’  The Rome of prophecy is uniquely is a power that is both religious and political. J H M D’Aubigny wrote of this world power, ‘ Its prerogative was not so much to save souls as to collect all the human race under the sceptre of Rome. In 1957 the Roman Catholic Bishop of Clifton, England declared, “Our aim is the ‘conversion’  (becoming a Catholic) of every single man, woman and child in this country.”

Q8 In the feet of the image what did Daniel see added to the iron of Rome?

His feet were of part iron and part clay. Dan 2:33

NOTE:  In speaking of this Roman supremacy , the Bible says that it will be partly strong and partly weak. The iron and the clay will never blend in a strong cohesive permanent unity. It will be aggressive in working for unity, but it will not achieve its full intention.

Q9 After Rome there will never be another world power. How will God intervene?

Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.  Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.  Daniel 2:34,35

Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.  Daniel 2:44,45.

Q10 How does the prophet John show this same intervention of God against the rebellious power of Rome and all her supporters?

And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.  His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.  And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.  And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.  And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.  And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.  Revelation 19:11-16
