It is for these reasons that attacks on Jesus are many, either blatant or subtle, but increasing in strength as the enemy prepares more and more thrusts against Him. Why should this be? It is because Jesus will be Satan’s destroyer that Satan is angry. The Bible speaks of it as Satan’s war, wrath and anger, and describes Satan as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. Human beings were made in the image of God and it is therefore Satan’s aim to take and deceive and destroy as much as possible of God’s image, before he makes his last efforts to overcome Christ by war. Revelation 16. Revelation 19, Revelation 20. The aim is to have world unity and world harmony. It sounds good, but it is of the occult, not of God. The aim of these lessons is to unmask this grand and awful picture of what is happening on a large scale in our world today, so that you can have an opportunity both to ‘see’ what is developing and growing, but also to deliver your life from danger.
NOTE 2: When reading the Bible it is essential to realise that Jesus is God. ‘I and my Father are one.’ This saves many confusions, and avoids falling into the subtleties of Satan’s deceptive teachings of trying to separate Jesus and God, with Jesus being in some way inferior to the Father. The period when Jesus lived our life on earth was unique in that He laid aside all His powers of divinity, and identified with us. At that time Jesus lived by faith as we must, but He remained Emmanuel—God with us.
Q3 What does the Bible call the enemy of Jesus?
And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: Revelation 12:20
NOTE: Refer to Module 3 ‘What went wrong?’ for more detail on this being’s early history. The devil is hiding behind many global institutions and is the source of the occult around us today. The occult is found in education, in science, in the spirituality emphasis, in leisure activities, e.g. yoga, tai chi, and others that alter the mood. In the charismatic movement reason is reduced. Satan is found in the New Age and in hypnotic exercises. God gave us reason and asks us to prove all things. The devil by-passes our reason and moves into other areas of the mind to work there.
Q4 How is his activity described in the Bible?
He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. John 8:44
NOTE: Satan has no other aim but destruction of the race formed in the image of God. There is nothing he offers that is for our positive good. He uses the human race as toys, and he has skilled leaders who work for him. He is taking many to destruction.
Q5 Is he alone in his work?
He was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. Revelation 12:9
Q6 What statements has he himself made about his plans and desires?
For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Isaiah 14:13,14
NOTE: Satan, the enemy of God shows from the number of times he uses the word ‘I’ in these statements, that his mind is unbalanced and self centred. He desires a throne and a kingdom that will take the place of God. He wishes to have the authority and power of God. He wishes to be as very God Himself. |
