Q11 From what did God create the world?
Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen, were not made of things which do appear. Hebrews 11:3.
NOTE: God created everything from nothing. He did not use existing matter.
Q12 How did God describe the world when it was complete?
And God saw everything that He had made and behold it was very good. Genesis 1:31.
NOTE: At the end of the other days of creation God had said that things were good. ‘And God saw that it was good.’ Genesis 1:25. But now the complete work was perfect.
Q13 How did He create the heavens and the earth?
By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth. Psalm 33:6
For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast. Psalm 33:9
Let them praise the name of the Lord; for He commanded and they were created. Psalm 148:5
Q14 How long did it take God to create the world from nothing?
For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea and all that in them is. Exodus 20:11
Q15 How did God make the seventh day of Creation Week unique?
And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made. Genesis 2:1-3
NOTE: When God put a blessing on the Sabbath it means that there was some special quality about the day. The day has been sanctified too. It has been set apart from the rest of the week as sacred time. It is a holy day to be treated with reverence and honour. It is a different day. This blessing has never been placed on any other day.
Q16 What was the reason given for the creating of the Sabbath?
And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had made; and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made. Genesis 2:1-3
NOTE: God was not tired after the creation, but He was setting the pattern for the week. Six days work and the seventh day for holy rest.
Q17 How did God share His Sabbath of rest?
The LORD hath given you the sabbath, Exodus 16:29
Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD that sanctify them. Ezekiel 20:12
NOTE: The seventh-day Sabbath was a gift from God, given at the end of Creation week, long before Sinai. God reminded the Children of Israel of the Sabbath again with the miracle of the giving of the manna. Exodus 16. This was before the Children of Israel were formed into a nation at Sinai, with the civil and religious laws that were given through Moses.
Ezekiel 20:12 states that the Sabbath, however, has another purpose. It is for a sign between |
