THE SEVENTH DAY SABBATH

The seventh day Sabbath—the oldest religious festival that began at Creation and was given as a rhythm of life for all people.

Worship—not just the choice of a day of worship, but the choice of the One whom we worship. Worship is the honour given to one who is worthy of that praise.  It is the answer to the Bible question—’who is like unto …?’  See Psalm 113:5. God is worthy of worship for He created us. There is no other.

Man—an older word for mankind, meaning every human being.

To bless—to give special benefits and inner joy.

To sanctify—to make holy, to set apart for a sacred purpose.

Q1 What is God’s ID?  How does He identify Himself?

I have made heaven and earth, and created man upon it: I even my hands have stretched out the heavens, all their host have I commanded.  Isaiah 45:12

For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens, God Himself that formed the earth and made it, He established it.  Is 45:18

Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the Lord’s thy God, the earth also with all that therein is. Deuteronomy 10:14

To whom then will ye liken me? Or shall I be equal? Saith the Holy One. Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number; He calleth them all by names by the greatness of His might, for that He is strong in power, not one faileth. Isaiah 40:25,26.

Q2  To whom do those in heaven give their worship?

Thou art worthy O Lord to receive glory and honour and power; for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.  Revelation 4:11

Q3 How does the Bible show that the God of the Bible is a life-giving God?

Neither is worshipped with men’s hands as though He needed anything, seeing He giveth to all life and breath and all things. Acts 17:25

Thus saith the Lord, He that created the heavens, and stretched them out, He that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; He giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein.  Isaiah 42:5

Q4 How does God compare himself with all other divinities?

Before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. Isaiah 43:7

Woe unto him that saith to the wood, awake; to the dumb stone, Arise, it shall teach!  Behold it is laid over with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in the midst of it.

Of a truth, LORD, the kings of Assyria have destroyed the nations and their lands, And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men's hands,
