JUDGEMENT IN THE WILDERNESS

Judgement—Because this is a Bible study, the word judgement is being used in the Bible sense. In a Bible judgement two parties were involved both claiming to be telling the truth. The judgement process was to examine the evidence, make a verdict, declare the sentence and carry it out.

Parable—a story with a divine, spiritual meaning.

Sanctuary—A sanctuary was a dedicated, holy place to be used in connection with holy services.

Tabernacle—tent, sometimes used as another word for the sanctuary.

Remission—forgiveness, pardon

Q1 In order to teach the people about the kingdom of heaven that God would set up, what simple and memorable method did Jesus use?

And when much people were gathered together, and were come to Him out of every city, He spake by a parable.  Luke 8:4

And he taught them many things by parables. Mark 4:2

Q2 What other method using everyday occurrences did He use in His teaching?

And again He said, Whereunto shall I liken the kingdom of God?  It is like leaven which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened

NOTE:  This is referred to as an object lesson, and is a method of teaching that makes a lesson well remembered.

Q3 What was the  greatest teaching tool that God ever used to demonstrate the full extent of His long-term plan of salvation from sin?

Let them build me a sanctuary that I may dwell among them.

Q4 What  was special about this construction?

Moses was admonished of God, when He was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith He, that thou make all things according to the pattern showed thee in the mount.  Hebrews 8:5

As it was shewed thee in the mount, so shall they make it.  Exodus 27:8

And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission of sin.  It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.  Hebrews 9:22,23

NOTE: After Moses had been given the two tables of stone with the Ten Commandments written on them, God then showed him a sanctuary in heaven.  He told Moses to build one on earth in miniature to the same pattern.
