Truth For Today Bible Study Course

At-a-glance …

Everything works by laws.

Jesus created all things. Jesus was the giver of all law

But people have freewill

We have chosen to rebel against those laws

Jesus who is God wants us to know the blessings of living within His laws.

Q 22 Along with the Ten Commandments God has given us what are some of the counsels that God has given us in the Bible?

Given to hospitality.  Romans  12:13
Bear ye one another’s burdens. Galatians 6:2
If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.  Romans 12:18

Q23 What was nailed to the cross and taken out of the way?

And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;  Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;  Colossians 2:13,14

NOTE:  The law that was in handwriting, gave the statues about sacrifices, ceremonial laws, holy days and the sacred rituals of the sanctuary.  They were types that prefigured Jesus coming, they all pointed to Him.  Once He had come they were no longer in operation. These were the things that Moses wrote in a book and put in the side of the ark.  The 10 commandments of God, the law of right and wrong was written in stone, with the finger of God and placed inside the ark under the mercy seat.  As God remains, so The Ten Commandments  remain.  We do not become thieves because Jesus has come, we do not take the name of God in vain because Jesus has come. We do not stop remembering the Sabbath because Jesus has come. These are not part of the ceremonial law.

Q24 What test did Jesus give as a test of our devotion to Him?

If ye love me keep my commandments.  John 14:15

Q25 What is the final blessing for those who have lovingly kept the commandments of God and shown their loyalty to Him in obeying His word?

Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.  Revelation 22:14

Q26 Why did Adam and Eve lose the tree of life in the beginning?

And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:  But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it:  Genesis 2:16,17.

Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?  Genesis 3:11

So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.  Genesis 3:24

NOTE:  God’s plan is to restore the good things that were lost by an evil decision. We have to make a choice too. Do we serve God, or do we live life on our terms?

SUMMARY BOX

Whatever our circumstances in life our only questions will be -
What has God commanded?
And what has God promised?
Knowing these we shall obey the one, and trust the other.

A VERSE TO REMEMBER

The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. John 6:63
